Аннотация: The prosperity of enterprises all over the world is highly dependent on how motivated their employees are. One of the motivational strategies is to involve and allow employees to participate in making decisions that affect their work. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether involvement of employees in decision making can affect their motivation. The study involved a case study and targeted 159 staff of Thika Technical Training Institute (TTTI). A sample of 81 respondents was selected using stratified sampling technique. These represented 51% of the whole population. Two separate but related questionnaires were used and the data was analyzed and the findings presented using tables. The study established that staff and committee meetings are held in the Institution and the employees are delegated duties. However use of suggestion boxes was low among the employees. The degree of involvement was found to be high. The most noticed positive effect of employee involvement in decision making was that their work was becoming challenging as their capabilities are utilized. The most noticed negative effect was that involvement consumes time.
