Аннотация: The use of glass as a building material continue to be on the rise in the Ghanaian residential construction industry. In the era of sustainable construction, energy efficient housing design and construction continue to be critical in the production of sustainable buildings. In spite of the increasing use of glass in most residential constructions in Ghana, especially, Denkyemuoso-Techiman New Site, in Kumasi, not much literature has been written on the effect of glass as a building material on electrical energy consumption thus making developers not much informed on the implications of the use of glass as far as energy consumption is concerned. This book, therefore assessed the effect of glass use as a building material on household electrical energy consumption, in the area of mechanical ventilation and air conditioning. The information in the book is expected to guide developers in the residential housing industry on the appropriate use of glass as an emerging building material in the Ghanaian construction industry. The use of mechanical ventilation gadgets and air conditions used in households were analysed based on their quantity and duration of use
