Аннотация: This research work explores and examines the literature in the oldest medical journal in Malaysia. Although the years analyzed is limited to five years publication and citation period: 2004 - 2008, but however presented an extensive analysis of the journal during the period which reflects the development and direction of the journal. Using various bibliometric laws and formulas, the study identifies the most productive contributors to the journal by authors, institution and country. It also analyzes the collaborations that exist in the publications, by co-authorship, local, institutional and international pattern of collaborations. It further presents the analysis of keywords and citations received by the journal. The journal is the most important channel for communicating research amongst Malaysian Medical researchers and practitioners. Therefore medical researchers and government agencies would find the findings useful for their own assessment and appraisal. The work can also be useful as a reference source for medical students and researchers in bibliometrics and scholarly communications
