Аннотация: Women’s psychological and emotional adjustment is influenced by psychosocial elements particularly around childbirth, which is a phase of vulnerability and transition. Women experience drastic changes during prenatal and postnatal period, in terms of biological, psychological, and social well being. The alteration in roles and responsibilities can contribute to personal growth and can be a glorious experience, but can also predispose a woman to mental turmoil like anxiety, depression etc. The predisposing psychosocial factors focused in the book include marital relationship, social support and financial condition that seemingly have significant role in determining psychological state of women around childbirth. The book concludes by suggesting that women can be prevented from depression in postnatal period they should be prevented from depression in prenatal period. Moreover to prevent the women from depression in prenatal period they should be provided with a healthy family atmosphere in terms of their relationship with husbands and their perception of social support.
