The Indian English novel took a far-flung reach after Independence. The scenario covered by Indian English novel deals with over all changing Indian conditions; social, political, religious, economic, emotional etc. This genre also makes ample use of Indian myth, folklore or cultural dimension. R.K.Narayan is one of the most widely read novelists and his novels are rooted deeply in Indian soil.He lays emphasis on some aspects of Indian life in his novels like; social, political, economical, religious and emotional. He has also created an imaginary town— Malgudi in which the action of his novels takes place.
