Аннотация: Owing to its effectiveness and safety in recent years, there is global revolution worldwide towards acceptance of Ayurveda, the Indian system of medicine. Apasmara (Epilepsy) is a disease entity described in authoritative Ayurveda texts. Though allied science claims of many innovations opening new horizon in the field of research, comprehensive knowledge regarding epilepsy is still in its infancy. Ayurveda with its time-tested wisdom has offered solace to the mankind. The compound formulations prepared out of Ghrita (clarified butter) is handy in the treatment of psychiatric & neurological disorders because of its ability to cross blood brain barrier (BBB). This book highlights the efficacy of one such medicament called Brahmi Ghrita prepared out of Bacopa monnieri, Acorus calamus, Saussurea lappa, Convolulus pluricaulis and one year old Ghrita. Brahmi Ghrita was administered in 2 dosage forms and its efficacy was compared with standard anti epileptic drug (Phenobarbitone) in the management of epilepsy. This book is submitted with the hope that it would initiate extensive application of Brahmi Ghrita in clinical research as well as Ayurvedic practice of Epilepsy.
