Аннотация: This book examines the main themes of the connections between sovereignty and international security through the lenses of globalization and terrorism. It explores how one of the principal phenomena of our time, such as sovereignty, has been transformed over time. It further seeks to discern the meaning of this notion and its transformation for the basic human demand of security. This latter aspect is looked at from a global perspective, given in particular the interdependent nature of security, as of almost any other dimension of today’s life, conditioned predominantly by the expansion of global integration and diffusion of modern information and communication technologies. In concluding, the book argues that global terrorism, one of the key challenges of the 21st century, depends on the success of globalization. International cooperation and multilateral efforts ought to remain the spirit of the world to come. The modern information and communication technologies, as much as they can be used for purposes of undermining a stable public order, can also be utilized for purposes of enhancing a paradigm of an increased social cohesion, cooperation and invention at the planetary level.
