Аннотация: Diabetes is by far the commonest form of the disease globally, with rapidly developing countries being at the forefront of this epidemic. Education and counseling plays a major role in the management of diabetes which is viewed as cornerstone for its treatment. The ultimate goal of counseling is to provide information directed at encouraging safe and appropriate use of medications leading to better therapeutic outcomes and thereby enhancing the quality of life (QoL) of patient. This book intends to shed light on various aspects of counseling that may be helpful for improving the QoL of a patient who has Diabetes Mellitus. The education programs should be combined with counseling and psychological intervention if they have to be effective. Evidence suggests that some interventions, including the introduction of blood glucose lowering medications or new insulin delivery systems, along with educational and counseling interventions designed to facilitate the development of diabetes-specific coping skills, can improve both glycemic control and QoL in patients with diabetes. The data so published may be useful for clinicalpharmacists, communitypharmacists, students, nurses, clinicians.
