      Аннотация: The aim of this book is to provide the readers the fundamentals of various aspects of transportation system. A subject on transportation is very comprehensive covering various modes of transport system. The understanding of the sustainable transportation system requires multidimensional approaches. This subject finds its wider applications to ensure a greater degree of mobility and safety for all people and goods in transportation planning. Keeping in view the present trend of increasing traffic congestion , high rate of road accidents coupled with an alarming level of growing air and noise pollution in most of the cities in India, there is an imperative need to explore possibilities to mitigate the present situation as well as to cope up with future increased traffic through the suitable sustainable transport measures such as improved public transport operation and advanced traffic management techniques with the application of ITS, improving traffic flow through congestion pricing technique,planning of highway with the concept of sustainability along with exploration of suitable policy and strategy measures to combat the problems of green house gas, a cause of climate of change
