Аннотация: Chapter I contains the Introduction and review of literature. Chapter II deals with estimating infant and child mortality rates for the districts of India. Chapter III is devoted to estimate the life expectancy at birth for 2001-05. In chapter IV we seek to establish a new relationship between infant mortality and life expectancy at birth. Using this relationship, an attempt has been made to estimate life expectancy at birth for the districts of Assam and some of the districts of the states covered by the Annual Health Survey, 2010-11. In chapter V, a new method of generating one parameter model life tables for India and its major states is developed where life expectancy at birth is the only input. In chapter VI an attempt has been made to estimate the TFR, GRR and NRR for the districts of some selected states of India. In chapter VII, an effort has been made to recapture the scenario of population growth in the districts of Kerala and Assam by estimating the NRR of these districts before and after allowance for migration. In chapter VIII an attempt has been made to build a database software package for comprehensive presentation of the district level demographic measures.
