Аннотация: The Electrocardiogram (ECG) is a very crucial and effective tool for heart monitoring system on behalf of both regular checkup and emergency. This paper presents a home-made ECG monitoring unit with the latest facilities at a reachable price to consider the economic condition of the large number of poor people around the country. The ECG monitoring unit is divided into two with the hardware and software part. The hardware part is responsible to extract the ECG signal from the body and eradicate the high frequency components and power line noise. The software part is responsible to filter the signal to eliminate the background noise, store the ECG signal for future research purpose, send the ECG report to the predefined e-mail address, calculate the heart rate of the patient and send voice call and SMS in case of abnormal heart rate. To work more conveniently the entire software segment is finally merged into an integrated GUI (Graphical User interface) created using MATLAB GUIDE (GUI Development Environment).
