Аннотация: This atlas of tongue base, hypopharyngeal and laryngeal pathology represents the teamwork effort of ENT Department Timisoara’s (“Victor Babes” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Timisoara, RO) surgeons to present their experience. Patients with laryngeal, hypopharyngeal and tongue base pathology represents almost 50% of all surgically patients from our ENT Department. In our ENT Department the assessment of the primary tumor was performed by inspection and palpation, when possible, and by indirect mirror exam followed by rigid, flexible endoscopy or suspended microlaryngoscopy. Lymph nodes were assessed by palpation followed by cervical ultrasound, CT and MRI. History represented the key element in patient assessment, insisting on risk factors, such as tobacco and alcohol consumption. High recurrence rates, poor survival, and significant alterations in speech and swallowing function are common experiences for patients with oropharynx, hypopharynx and larynx malignancies. This study was supported by research Grant N0. 15250/19.12.2012 from the "Victor Babes" University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Timisoara, Romania.
