Аннотация: The Albanian transition to democracy has been long, violent and problematic. In these years, the political life in the country is dominated by two major parties: the Democratic Party and the Socialist Party. The political debate between the two parties has been accompanied by arrogance and total lack of democratic culture. This descriptive-analytical study will be an overview of political polarization in Albania during the transition period, based on the documents of international institutions and studies of Albanian and foreign authors. This book will present all the culminating moments of political debate. From the analysis that was done, is concluded that the Albanian extreme political polarization has caused discontent and distrust among people; it has hindered the development of the country; is damaging the functioning of democracy in Albania and it is preventing significant reforms which are necessary for the country's progress towards EU integration and the functioning of the rule of law.
