Аннотация: This book assessed the tourism consumption and activities of visitors to religious sites in South-western Nigeria, in order to achieve an effective and efficient strategy for the development of religious tourism in Nigeria. There is paucity of research on religious tourism segment in Africa, particularly in Nigeria. Existing studies on tourism focused on ecological, cultural, heritage and historical sites. Religious tourism is a form of tourism whereby people of faith travel individually or in groups for pilgrimage, missionary, fellowship or leisure purposes. It is the most consumed and oldest form of tourism, yet the least researched. The book was born out of my desire for research exploration on religious tourism in developing countries. Data for this research were derived from primary and secondary sources. The survey identified a total number of seventeen religious sites consisting of sites of the three official religions in the study area. This book is an invaluable asset to students and consultants in the field of Tourism Studies
