Refugee Management and its Socioeconomic Implications for a Host. The Case of Liberian Refugees in Ghana

      Аннотация: This book probes into the impacts of refugee situation on host communities/countries, alongside an assessment of how the refugees have been managed. The book gives some insight into the complexities of refugee situations worldwide; highlighting the challenges that most host communities face when the unexpected guests (i.e. refugees) arrive. It throws light on the challenges that displacement presents to the refugees and their host communities, as well as issues of their repatriation, third country resettlement and integration or otherwise. It documents that refugees may superficially be viewed as a source of economic and social burden to a host, but invariably may constitute potential source of social and economic benefits. It touches on almost all refugee-related issues and concludes that effective management of the interplay of realities posed by refugee hosting, produces much appreciated results for all. It will be an effective working tool for those in refugee humanitarian enterprise, like camp managers, government agencies and students who want to have richer insight on how to analyze social issues.
