Аннотация: This work aims at highlighting the essence of public health system in India giving a broader overview, opportunities, challenges and way forward beyond 2015. It further delves into legal aspect associated with the strengthening of health system and to make the system more accessible, equitable and right based. Though, the work did not cover the upcoming Universal Health Coverage but the prescription made are in furtherance to realization of Universal Health Coverage as envisaged by World Health Organisation.
