Аннотация: This book addresses the question whether it is possible to teach conversational skills through literature; and, if ‘yes’, how any benefit can be made accessible to both privileged and non-privileged sections of society in an EFL context. It proposes a rationale for bringing more literary texts into the English classroom in order to change the classroom dynamics in terms of learner confidence, autonomy and output leading towards overall ability to use language orally. The book contains the rationale, scope and background of the study; a literature review; a pedagogical framework for the teaching of literary texts in EFL contexts; a contextual description of the research, participants, data collection instruments and procedure; and results along with the implications, suggestions and recommendations. This book would certainly be of great benefit in the EFL scenario around the world especially for the ELT/ESL/TESOL students of Graduate and Post Graduate Levels; researchers and teachers of English. The rich and extended data, appendices and bibliography would surely serve as rich resource in doing further investigation in the field of Applied Linguistics.
