Canine Pyometra: Recent Advances in Therapeutic Management.

      Аннотация: Pyometra is a hormonally mediated acute or chronic poly-systemic life threatening disorder affecting the canine and feline female reproductive tract. Ovariohysterectomy is considered as the most reliable treatment option for this condition. This book describes about recent advances in pharmacological management of canine pyometra which will enable the veterinarian to resolve pyometra without hampering the breeding potential of young breedable dogs. The risk factors involved in development of this disorder, pathogenicity and various methods for early diagnosis has been thoroughly discussed. Hence preventive measures can be adopted by the pet owners to reduce its incidence. Simultaneously the comparative study between several therapeutic protocols, their effects and side effects along with post recovery breeding status, conception rate and recurrence rate will enable the practitioners to choose the right therapeutic agent. The authors hope that these informations will be helpful in treatment, prevention and control of canine pyometra conserving the breeding capabilities of young dogs.
