Аннотация: This book is a Magnum Opus on violence against women on domestic and professional front. Any serious reader, while going through the book will understand the different types of violence inflicted upon women even in the twenty first century where gender equality is a buzz word. This comprises verbal, physical and emotional harassment. These ways of harassment are influenced by various socio-economic parameters like profession, education and income. The relationship between socio-economic factors and harassment is in inverse ratio. The book succinctly explores the causes of harassment. After marriage, the women are enmeshed in an intra-familial cultural conflict. A plethora of factors is identified as causes for perpetuating violence against women. These factors are personality traits, suspicion, economic independence of the wives, inferiority complex (of husbands) lack of interest in household work, alcoholism, family conflict, monetary problem, sex related reasons and in-laws’ interference. The book makes an in-depth analysis of reactions of women towards harassment. The cultural and traditional backgrounds of Indian women compel them to be tolerant.
