Аннотация: The evaluation studies presented in the present work aim to offer a contribution to the recent debate on the Erasmus programme and its value based on a systematic and scientifically based evaluation process. Starting from the analysis of the antecedents of student mobility, empirical data has been provided relating to outcomes, potential and associated problems as outlined by the direct beneficiaries of the programme. The research was thus aimed at directing and supporting educational institutions in the implementation of the student mobility programme. This work, through the presentation of the results of the evaluation of the effectiveness of the Erasmus programme in terms of its appropriacy in achieving the objectives as set out by the EU itself, is a contribution towards the current debate on the applicability of the most widespread of European education programmes. Each study carried out has allowed for an in-depth understanding of the ways in which support towards student mobility offered by the Erasmus Programme might best be directed in order to assist the creation of a a more stable sense of European identity while developing both personal and professional skills.
