Аннотация: The majority of European children and adolescents find themselves living in environments characterized by a variety of unhealthy and easily accessible temptations, largely responsible for the dramatic increasing of overweight and placing it as one of the most important health issues in the European Union. The objective of TEMPEST research project was to analyse both existing and novel incentive schemes for the prevention of overweight in children and adolescents, highlighting the role of self-regulatory competence (SRC). Therefore, this book presents the main findings of the Portuguese Survey of the TEMPEST international project, conducted in Portugal by the Team Aventura Social (http://www.aventurasocial.com/), based at the University of Lisbon and coordinated by Prof. Margarida Gaspar de Matos (PhD). The Team Aventura Social has developed several investigations on health promotion and social behaviour, it is involved in several international/national projects (HBSC/WHO; KIDSCREEN/EC; PeerDriveClean/EC; TEMPEST/EC; Leonardo; Socrates; Erasmus; Dream Teens) and regularly collaborates with Portuguese policy makers (Ministries of Education, Health and Justice) and the media.
