      Аннотация: The selective inhibition achieved by the use of selective probiotic strains can control the growth of specific bacteria in plaque rather than complete elimination of plaque microbiota. Increasing antibiotic resistance is one reason to search for other possibilities in the treatment of infections in the oral cavity. One alternative to antibiotics may be the use of probiotics, which has been found to be beneficial to host health because of its several advantages. In recent years, probiotics have been used as a treatment to promote oral health, with lots of research going on; the area of probiotics and periodontal disease is still in its infancy. This book is an comprehensive compilation about the current trends and research going on in the field of periodontics pertaining to probiotics. Implications for this approach in the management of other diseases are also presented.
