Аннотация: These studies were carried out in the unique region called as "Konkan' of Maharashtra. The area is with high diversity of plants and animals but it is ignored by the society and therefore it comes under undeveloped region. Authors try to know about the present status of this region. For this thorough studies were carried out and development plan has been also given. Both the authors came to know that there are reasons to believe that at the end of the project timed villages ?nds itself in a much better shape and quite closer to the development stage. This scheme envisages the development of each village with a long term planning vision based on current demographic, social, cultural, educational status of the village and giving due considerations to economic, agricultural, tourism and environmental potentials of respective villages. The empowerment of Vasai can turn out to be richer and more meaningful only through the involvement of villagers for development. People's participation is one of the foremost pre-requisites of development process both from procedural and philosophical perspectives. -Dr. Kurlapkar and Shaikh
