Аннотация: Having a baby is an exciting and wonderful emotional experience of woman's life and this is particularly so in the case of arrival of first baby. This expectation is very often wrong, as many mothers suffer with low mood after delivery. Sometimes this movement becomes worst when happiness mixes with feeling of depression. Post Natal Depression is condition characterized by symptoms of sadness, hopelessness, unreasonable guilt, and even suicidal ideations. It's therefore important for partners, family, friends and healthcare professionals to recognize the signs of PND as early as possible so that the appropriate treatment can be given. Often health care professional fail to identify emotional aspect of mother and concentrate on physical care. Availability and accessibility all psychiatric treatment & psychological therapies at midwifery department will reduce its burden. A multi-disciplinary approach is also essential to prevent sadness and to fill real joyful experience in mother as well as their family. Nurses, as she is accompanying mother from the date of admission till the discharge, play an important role in its detection and preventing further complications.
