Аннотация: The book examines in detail the fascinating evolution of the history of democratization in India and Pakistan. The appeal of democracy, nevertheless, has persisted. Although negative meaning also attached to term, its essence was not lost to ordinary citizens. The historical background of democratic process in different region remained under discussion. The institutionalization process has started with independence of India and Pakistan under principle line of constitution. Both states have to afford either civil or military authoritarian leadership. Both countries are ethnically diverse. The socio-economic conditions are attached with political governing system. People have to struggle for transparent and accountable governance. It is pre-requisite for political participation to strengthened democratic governing system. The electoral process has studied which has vital role for establishment of government. The major concern is utilization of financial resources for victory. Media also wants monopoly in electoral politics, have no support for mature democratic system. The most populous region needed a charismatic leadership that promoted democratic norms.
