Аннотация: Translating of slang items is one of the most controversial translation issues. Hence, the translators have to choose and apply the best strategies to translate slangy items. On the other hand, most of the times, slang words are regarded as vulgar and impolite language and therefore, the transferring of them can be a complicated task, especially in oriental societies such as Iran. J.D Salinger employs a lot of slang words and vulgar phrases in his works. The present study has aimed to investigate the strategies used by Persian translators in two selected books of Salinger based on Gotllieb’s framework (1994), with the main stress laid on slang translation. In order to fulfill the requirements of this study, the slangy samples of the selected books were extracted, analyzed and the frequency of each strategy calculated. The results demonstrated that Paraphrase is the most frequent strategy implemented in translating of slang items in each translation. In addition, by applying the frequency of each procedure in Pearson Correlation Graph, and comparing the performance of both translators, it was indicated that two translators render in the similar ways.
