Аннотация: Plants and herbs are used in the traditional system of medicines for treatment and reduction of oxidative stress. Medicinal plants are natural resources, imparts innumerable virtues and their use in the regulation of chemical induced toxic effects has gained more impetus in recent years. This indigenous form of medicine uses the active ingredients present in plants to treat diseases. Plants are frequently considered to be less toxic and free from side effects than synthetic ones. The corroborative and toxic plants generally known as the rasayan drug in Ayurveda are known to prevent ageing, increased longevity and resistance to disease by augmenting the immune system. A considerable research of pharmacognosy, chemistry, pharmacology and clinical therapeutics has been carried out and the ayurvedic database has detailed description of over 700 medicinal plants.
