Reproductive Dynamics and Conservation of Impatiens of Western Ghats. Reproducitve dynamics of rare, endangered and threatened Impatiens species of peninsular India

      Аннотация: The genus Impatiens L. (Balsaminaceae) is one of the largest and difficult genera of angiosperms comprising over 1000 species globally. In India the genus is represented by c. 210 species with two centres of diversity – the Eastern Himalaya and the Western Ghats. Both regions show a high degree of endemism of Impatiens Species. Though the ideal climatic conditions prevailing in the distributional area which provides suitable habitat for Impatiens, the populations are rapidly declining and dwindling due to various reasons. One of the reason is its own reproductive syndrome. This book provides meticulous data on reproductive and pollination dynamics of the RET Impatiens of Western Ghats with special emphasis on conservation aspects. Each chapter are thoroughly focused on fundamental facts supported with scientific literature. The Research methodologies presented are of highly expedient to the biologists and other naturalists. The results drawn are clearly mentioned in the tabulated, graphical as well as in photographic form. The conservation strategies for the candidate species has been formulated for sustainable and judicious utilization of the candidate species for the long run
