Аннотация: The teaching and learning of mathematics, most especially at foundation level known as pre-primary and primary school have been facing challenges of poor academic performance and attitude towards further education in the subject or other related subjects. The problem has been traced to the direct instruction method of teaching commonly adopted by the teachers. This again was informed by the method adopted (Direct Instruction) by the lecturers teaching primary mathematics methodology courses in the colleges of education where the teachers were prepared. This book therefore presents the effectiveness of adopting two forms of activity-based strategy on mathematics lesson plan and delivery of the pre-service teachers. The moderator effects of gender and numerical ability of the pre-service teachers were also presented. The book should be a good guide for teachers of mathematics at pre-primary and primary school level, pre-service teachers and lecturers teaching primary mathematics methodology courses in all institutions preparing this set of teachers.
