Аннотация: Global energy system faces three major strategic challenges in the coming decades: disruptive energy growth; environmental threat from production and use of energy; and persistent energy poverty. The three challenges have a lot of attention from energy economics community, much less, in addressing SSA countries’ environmental threats from energy production and usage. The over 600 million living without access to basic electricity is a very alarming situation that require solutions. Those with conventional energy are either not gaining from its usage due to inefficiency in service delivery or environmental challenges such as rain fall pattern changes Electricity is a unique market, characterized by a constantly fluctuating demand and supply. Physics shows that energy is necessary for sustainable economic growth. However, many SSA countries’ vision towards renewable energy (solar & wind) has been very limited, to date. Economically, renewable energy (Solar & Wind) has been recognized as the only reliable energy and environmentally friendly. This little book will help address the pressing energy poverty in developing countries, especially in SSA countries.
