Mind Mapping Technique and Its Effect on Achievement in Ecology.

      Аннотация: In post examination analysis, the Kenya National Examinations Council perennially reports dismal scores in biology and specifically in the topic of ecology. Efforts by the government to improve the pedagogical approaches in biology through in-service courses has yielded less results. Ecology as a topic does not only enable students to pass biology examination well, but also help them maintain a healthier and more productive biosphere for both humans and other living organisms. Despite knowledge of the importance of ecology, a high number of misconceptions are reported among both teachers and students. This book provides insight on the effect the mind mapping technique on learning of ecology concepts. Mind Maps effectively manages knowledge by fine tuning the learning and evaluation process that invokes high thinking order of the student. This subsequently enhances achievement. The book should be useful to teachers of biology and biology teacher trainers in diversifying pedagogical approaches to the teaching/learning process. It may also be found useful by teacher trainers and teachers of other science subjects.
