Аннотация: 21st century is the era of globalization. Due to industrial revolution and development in the international trade and commerce, there has been a substantial increase of business and trade, which has resulted in a variety of consumer goods appearing in the market to cater to the needs of the consumers. The modern method of advertisement in media influences the mind of the consumers. Notwithstanding the manufacturing defect or imperfection in the quality, a consumer is tempted to purchase the goods. There has been a possibility of deficiency in the services rendered. In such circumstances, the consumer may feel cheated. Hence, in the era of globalization the rights of the consumers need to be protected. In this regard Indian Parliament did its best by passing the Consumer Protection Act, 1986. This Act is a benevolent social legislation. It was passed for better protection of the interests of the consumers in India.
