Аннотация: NNanotechnology is the study, design, creation, synthesis, manipulation, and application of functional materials, devices, and systems through control of matter at the nanometer scale. The small size, customized surface, improved solubility, and multi-functionality of nanoparticles will continue to open many doors and create new biomedical applications. Nanoparticle technologies are significantly impacting the development of both therapeutic and diagnostic agents. At the intersection between treatment and diagnosis, interest has grown in combining both paradigms into clinically effective formulations. This concept, recently coined as theranostics, is highly relevant to agents that target molecular biomarkers of disease and is expected to contribute to personalized medicine. This book presents an overview of nanotechnology based materials for the biologist and discusses the attributes of engineered nanoscale materials that has shown efficacy in treating devastating diseases such as cancer. This book also focused on the potential of those engineered nanoscale materials in biomedical applications like diagnostics and imaging as well as related risk and toxicities that is main hurdles
