Аннотация: This research focused on developing a theoretical understanding of the disjuncture between the evolving relationship between local economic development, business stimulation and poverty reduction policies advocated by the state on the one hand, and on the other the realities of poverty, unemployment and marginalisation and corresponding day-to-day livelihoods strategies of poor township inhabitants, Cape Town, South Africa.
