Аннотация: Teaching practice constitutes a very important component in teacher training hence the school context in which the exercise takes place is significant. The schools however, differ noticeably in the nature of the pupils,the teachers, learning facilities and resources, and administration, which has been noted to have either a positive or negative influence on student teacher development. This book puts the practical school experience into contextual perspective and discusses the opportunity different school contexts provide for student teachers to put theory into practice and acquire the necessary skills required of a professional teacher. This is exemplified through empirical evidence in which school opportunities for practice, influence on student teacher performance, contextual challenges and possible solutions, are highlighted. The book is a valuable resource for teacher education institutions; teacher educators especially those involved in teaching practice and student teachers as well as practicing teachers, quality assurance and standards officers and education policy makers.
