Language Integration in Health Sciences.

      Аннотация: Language Integration in Health Sciences is an invaluable resource for language teachers and students becoming doctors. The book will assist language curriculum planners and language teachers to be aware of issues surrounding language in medicine, such as cultural nuances, difficulty in translating some of the health terms to isiXhosa, finding relative understanding of concepts that are difficult to translate and how this could jeopardise the language integration process. Further it makes recommendations through discussions that appear to synergise and/or contrast the standardization of isiXhosa in Health Sciences, the effects of the hlonipha (language of respect) language which is used by women to show respect in-laws of high standing who have passed to the next world and beliefs around that and the significance of offering a context specific language and cultural constraints in Health Sciences. The book offers suggestions and recommendations on dealing with challenges of language integration for effective teaching and effective learning.
