Аннотация: Section 1 of the report details the effect of SOLAS on the Maritime world since its birth in 1914, following the disaster of the Titanic to its current standing in the maritime world with current events such as the disaster of the Costa Concordia. The report will look into both the history of SOLAS and its effect on the current maritime climate, with some discussion into the future of SOLAS at its current position. Section 2 will then look into some areas of concern in regard to larger passenger vessels and the problems that these ships, and the crew onboard, are facing when they are expected to complete full scale evacuations in SOLAS regulated time. New concepts, such as SRTP and human management, will be discussed and how these new concepts fit with SOLAS to prevent future disasters and loss of Life.
