The possibilities and hindrances of ADR in Nigeria: A critique.

      Аннотация: The book offers a critique of the possibilities and hindrances on the implementation of ADR in Nigeria. It gives the historical background on the practice of ADR in Nigeria. The work shows ADR as part of the traditional dispute resolution in Nigeria from different perspectives. The book offers an insight into the present status of ADR in Nigeria and the problems created by litigation. It looks at the present ADR processes adopted in Nigeria with a review of the present statutes dealing with ADR in Nigeria. It looks at measures to facilitate the implementation of ADR and the reformation of Arbitration law with measures to facilitate the implementation of ADR in Nigeria by popularizing the mediation culture vide traditional mediation, court-annexed mediation and the mediation centres. Other useful ADR processes are also discussed. It captures discussion on the contemporary relevance of Islamic ADR processes in Nigeria. The work identifies a number of hindrances and if corrected will remove the hindrances and ensure the possibilities to enhance the future prospects of Nigeria as an ADR friendly nation.
