Аннотация: Construction and operation of many hydropower reservoirs in Africa have had significant impacts on the environment, social lives and rural economies. The Tana River is the only permanent river in some parts of Kenya’s extremely dry region including Mbeere South where it constitutes a vital water resource for all sectors of the human population. It is also home to the 7-forks reservoirs, reservoirs used in hydro-electric power generating power generation, including Kindaruma reservoir. Erection of this reservoir was bound to effect/influence the community in one way or another. This book therefore discusses the socio-economic and environmental impacts of Kindaruma hydro-electric reservoir on the community of Kiambere sub-location in Embu County, Kenya. It goes deeper to show how Kindaruma hydro-electric reservoir has contributed to the poverty levels, environmental impact and the effects to water availability for domestic use and livestock consumption among the community of Kiambere sub-location. This book provides vital information for professionals in Environmental Science, Impact Assessment specialists or anyone else seeking information on Kindaruma Dam
