Аннотация: The most seen chronic anaemias, Beta Thalassaemia Major and Sickle Cell Disease have been evaluated with a strong interest and attention in Albania too. Nowadays, there is a total number of more than 600 patients with haemoglobinopathis, children and adults, in treatment and follow up in some medical centres in Tirana, Durres, Lushnja and Vlora. Some screening programs have been conducted, but there is still a high birth rate of haemoglobinopathies persons in Albania (15-20 cases per year). During two decades in the world and Albania too, it’s shown a peculiar progress towards clinical management of these pathologic conditions. There are many researches in this field which for sure will help in improving good clinical practice. These last years especially for patients with Thalassaemia Major, a dramatic progress has been done in overall survival and improvement of quality of life. In this book, I wanted to express my opinion, to give the actual panorama of Thalassaemia and Sickle Cell Disease in our country, stressing the importance of prevention and the better management of clinical situations.
