Trafficking of Women in India. Community Based Preventive Measures

      Аннотация: Trafficking of women and girls is the most heinous crime that sexually exploits the women and girls through fraud and deceit. Several NGOs and Civil Society organizations have geared up to usher in their joint synergy along with the government and international agencies to combat against this menace. However the gap between the prosecuted and convicted keeps widening year after year making trafficking of women a staple feature of the daily news. Most of the protective measures remain an unfinished agenda due to lack of evidence and implementation of laws. The several innovative measures that has been adopted for preventing trafficking of women and girls is unique in nature. Many of these measures have also been acknowledged as a best practice and replicated elsewhere. The border areas display a scatter of such action oriented programmes that run to even this day, while the project has long been over. During the course of fieldwork, several NGOs and stakeholders belonging to governmental organization and other institutions were continuously engaged in implementing the preventive measures for ushering in awareness generation, sensitization and training programme in all seriousness.
