Аннотация: The book is motivated by the paradox of so much religiosity and yet so much crime in the Nigeria society.Almost all the perpetrators of crimes in Nigeria are members of one religious group or another. Therefore it is either the religious groups tolerate crime or creates the vulnerability that leads to crime. The book is an evaluation of the major religious groups in Nigeria, in this case, the Christian and Muslim religions; in relation to the extent they assist the poor out of poverty or further impoverish the poor, thereby creating an incentive and vulnerability rather than disincentive and non-vulnerability to crime. The book contends that the religious groups have abandoned the core provisions of their religious faith which emphasize charity, being one Umaa or being one in Christ and assistance to the poor. Hence most of their members engage in criminal conducts. It is recommended that the religious groups in Nigeria should once again embrace these core tenets and thus provide the disincentive and remove the vulnerability of especially the poor members engaging in crime.
