Theories and Application of Road Traffic Crashes Causation in Ethiopia. Road Traffic Accidents and Safety Mechanisms in Addis Ababa

      Аннотация: The breadth component examines the theories of road traffic accident causations such as: system theory, human factor theory, theory of planned behavior and risk theories as interpreted by the research work of Ludwig von Bertalanffy (1968), Russell Ackoff (1981), Russell Ferrell (2002), Fishbein and Ajzen (1975), Ajzen and Madden (1986), Dejoy (1989), Wilde (1994 & 2002), Michon (1985) and Fuller (1984). The depth section elaborates systems theory and analyze some peer reviewed latest article that support the basic assumption of system theory that, road traffic crashes result from the interactional malfunctioning of the components of systems. The application component presents a case study about the determinant or risk factors for road traffic accidents or crashes in Addis Ababa City and proposed interventions project on road safety management system or program in which specific and measurable goal as well as objectives were established through facilitated collective discussion of multiple stakeholders. The paper design a new road and pedestrian safety management program for road transportation sector on safety rule violence involving the city road users (drivers and pedestrian).
