Аннотация: The aim was to investigate, analyze and recommend improvements of the facility layout design. And to report it, to be used to achieve improvement in the material handling of the components. Revised facility planning is a major undertaking that requires substantial resources and careful planning. Literature review points out knowledge on facility layout design, material handling and investigate tools, methods and approaches that are available and used elsewhere to improve the processes. This knowledge can be modified to suit the present requirement. In layout optimization study of existing plant layout and design new proposed plant layout which is ‘product type’ layout will reduce material flow in plant. Selective pallet racking system for storage of finished goods was preferred. Whilst the material handling improvements and alternative of dispatch mode of coil spring will reduce transportation cost and improves quality of coil springs. Process improvement in powder coating station and pit furnace station results in increased productivity. The techniques used are elaborately explained to help the reader understand easily.
