Liquefaction of Soils : Causes Effects Evaluation Methods. Analysis and Discussion of the Recent and Advanced Soil Liquefaction Potential Evaluation Methods through a Case Study

      Аннотация: Recent developments in civil engineering create multiple interaction problems between the soil and the structure, particularly in the case of a major construction project or during investigation campaigns. Then, understanding the behaviour of soils has an increasingly vital role specially in earthquake geotechnical studies. One of the important aspects of geotechnical earthquake engineering practice, is predicting the "Liquefaction Resistance" of soils: Several evaluating procedures, using different evaluating tools have been developed over the past three decades. One of these fundamental tools is the shear wave velocity (Vs). This study consists of an interpretation of published correlations between Vs and other parameters, and of an analysis of the recent and developed soil liquefaction potential evaluation methods to determine the main sources of difference between the various methods. To validate these interpretations, a case study was developed, the Jazan site, which is a refinery and petroleum terminal in Saudi Arabia, to discuss it and examine the results. Which Liquefaction evaluation method is the best? The answer will be determined through this study!!
