Social & Solidarity Economy (SSE) in Togo:. Evidence from The Motorcycle-Taxi Sector

      Аннотация: Despite the recent nature of Social & Solidarity Economy (SSE) concept in sub Saharan Africa, experience in Togo shows the existence of entities in various forms of designations. From its available organizations (SSEOs), there is evidence that they finance 50% of the national economy and belong mostly to the informal sector. The latter houses 80% of the working population in sectors, of which one of the most powerful components over the past four decades is without any doubt the motorcycle-taxis. This study on the motorcycle-taxi sector, by reviewing the state of the sector and identifying its strengths, has proposed their consolidation to make the sector a real SSEO. The study has concluded that the motorcycle-taxi activity, by creating hundreds of thousands of jobs, injects more than the budget of the State into the national economic circuit and mobilizes nearly at about four (04) times Togolese diaspora resources. But the precariousness in which this activity is done has called for recommendations in order to revitalize the sector. The book is designed for SSE actors interested in reviving the motorcycle-taxi sector. Its development was led by M. Frederic Lapeyre of the ILO.
