Аннотация: Nearly one half of people worldwide live on less than $2.50 per day, and don’t have access to financial services due to small or no collateral; microfinance came as a blessing to them. This book is an honest and factual documentary of its journey from concept to commercialization and value addition. Sustainable microfinance is crucial for sustainable poverty eradication. At the same time, commercialization of microfinance institutes is paramount for its own sustainability. Eminent Bangladeshi institutes show gradual progress in the indicators of commercialization. Between 2007 and 2013, for example, Grameen Bank alone increased its return on equity from 1.07% to 11.36%, operational self-sufficiency from 100.65% to 104.34%, and profit margin from 0.64% to 4.16%, which is a success amidst turbulent world economy. Lessons learnt from these institutions can be replicated in other contexts. This book is for you, if you are a microfinance enthusiastic and curious to know: - The Fundamentals, and how to flourish and sustain your microfinance organization? - How a microfinance institute can be iconic, making phenomenal social impact without sacrificing profitability and sustainability?
