Аннотация: This study attempts to carry out a Simmelian reading of Jhumpa Lahiri, The Namesake, and The Lowland. These two novels demonstrate the traces of social conflict in a stranger and the individuality issues. The ideas presented in the novels are in line with Simmilian notion which is considered as the key concepts of the research and is explored within the designated novels. Simmel believes the conflict is the main reason and provoke each person into the heart of the society. To him, the conflict is the factor to communicate all types of people because each society needs action and interaction from all types; that is why this research aims to explore the conflict elements and the reasons of conflict within the novels of the study. Also, it tries to investigate the traces of the conflict which lead the social members in the heart of the society in the sense of strangeness.
