Factors affecting the effectiveness of groupwork in English class. The role of teachers and students in group work

      Аннотация: As it is defined by Brumfit (1984:72), group work refers to “a number of people who interact with one another, who are psychologically aware of one another, and who perceive them to be a group.” Brumfit (Ibid) further explains that group plan either be formal or informal. These two different types of groups have their own functions an features.For example,formal learning groups are more or less permanent or temporary with some defined and clearly stated roles over a long period of time. Such learning groups are made when learners are expected to complete specific tasks like assignment paper and writing a report. The group members work to gather until the task is finished. In formal learning groups, on the other hand, are made primarily for carrying out some social purpose activities whenever people interact in any situation. For example, students might discuss their nearby for a very short time on issues raised by their teacher. Group work is one way of organizing the class for doing various tasks inside and outside of the class. Furthermore, when learners are doing tasks to gather in group, there will be communication through language skills like speaking and listening.
