Аннотация: TVETization is a training re-engineering process that seeks to improve competencies, skills and knowledge of trainees by making changes and improvements in knowledge transfer methods and training infrastructure in line with the needs of industry. Polytechnics are higher education institutions mandated to provide technical and vocational training. The education has a strong emphasis on practice-based learning, rather than theory based learning. Such a training system aims at producing middle-level managers such as technicians, artisans and technologists. To achieve this, Polytechnics should provide a conducive environment to help students excel in their studies. These include infrastructural developments such as fully computerised libraries, industry-standard laboratories, training workshops, modern lecture halls, well-equipped tutorial rooms among other things. The research is aimed at enlightening policy makers and curriculum development officers on the need to consider Information Technology training in Polytechnics as purely technical.
